Description[]

For hundreds of years the Ezahni were considered mere legends; powerful and immortal spirits of the forest. Sightings were often attributed to an overactive imagination, and those who took them too seriously were usually never heard from again after leaving in pursuit of these Creatu.

While travelers have indeed vanished while looking for them, it is not the intent of the Ezahni to cause harm. Ezahni are actually quite playful, allowing themselves to be glimpsed in the wild to initiate a game of hide and seek! The longer the game takes, the more they enjoy it. It is the pursuer's reluctance to give up that eventually causes them to become lost.

Ezahni are most at home in a forest, but can survive a surprisingly broad range of climates. They are swift and agile creatu, the soft pads on the bottom of their feet allowing them to run and leap in silence no matter the terrain. They eat primarily grass, grains and leaves, but if needed, they can survive on the toughest of weeds.

Both male and females bear a single horn on their foreheads, but it is the female who uses it most in competition for mates and to protect her small territory when she has laid an egg. During this time, she will threaten anyone who approaches too closely, even another Ezahni. It is for this reason that no Ezahni egg has ever been discovered in the wild and so many legends have grown from the few sightings reported.

While rare, it is possible to befriend a wild one so long as a person is willing to play. If the game ends for any reason they will get bored and leave in search of new entertainment. Ezahni raised from an egg usually come when called in return for their favorite treat, but bells are often braided into their manes so their owners can find them if they hide instead. To hatch an Ezahni and raise it from an egg is a blessing, for they form unbreakable bonds with their human companions.
